The protection of our members’ privacy and the safekeeping of confidential information are of utmost concern to the Millstream Area Credit Union. It is the Credit Union’s intent to comply with all applicable laws and regulations concerning the treatment of both member and non-member information, and educate our members as to their privacy rights under law. This policy
outlines the purposes for which member information will be collected and released outside of the Credit Union.
INFORMATION COLLECTED
The Millstream Area Credit Union will only collect that information necessary to establish an on-going relationship with members and joint account holders. Information on an individual member may be collected from a variety of sources, including the member’s signature card, loan application and credit bureaus. (See attachment for a complete list of information collected). Furthermore, the Credit Union will take reasonable precautions to protect the accuracy and reliability of member information.
INFORMATION SHARED WITH AFFILIATES & THIRD PARTIES
The Millstream Area Credit Union will not sell nonpublic personal information on its members to any third party. The Credit Union may disclose nonpublic personal information about an individual member or members with member consent, in order to effect a transaction, to protect the Credit Union’s interests, or for other purposes permitted by law and regulation. THIRD PARTY PRIVACY STANDARDS
The Millstream Area Credit Union will only disclose nonpublic personal information about its members to affiliates and third parties who demonstrate a consistent commitment to the protection of the confidentiality of member information and who have adopted privacy policies comparable to those adopted by the Credit Union.
SECURITY & CONFIDENTIALITY
As part of the Millstream Area Credit Union’s commitment to protect the confidentiality of member account information, the Credit Union will establish procedures for periodically training staff on the importance of member privacy and the Credit Union’s privacy policy. Staff will only be permitted to access member account information when necessary for business reasons. Finally, the Credit Union will establish appropriate security standards to protect against unauthorized access to member information.
MINORS PRIVACY POLICY
Any information obtained on a minors account through our website is considered confidential and will not be shared with any outside source. Millstream Area Credit Union will not be responsible for information obtained on minors when the minor visits other sites through the links from our website.
AVAILABILITY OF POLICY
The Millstream Area Credit Union is proud of its commitment to member confidentiality and will make this policy available to any consumer requesting it. The Credit Union will also post the policy on its Internet home page.
